Whole hearted Learning Rooted in Faith & Curiosity

At Little Light Academy, we believe learning should nurture the head, heart, and hands. Our academic philosophy blends Charlotte Mason principles with hands-on, project-based learning, rooted in faith and family values. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore nature, create, and express themselves—all while building a strong foundation in reading, writing, math, and life skills. We celebrate the uniqueness of each learner and offer personalized pathways that reflect their strengths, interests, and purpose.

Our preschool is a delightful and nurturing playschool program, where we ignite curiosity through rhythm, nature, and imaginative play. Through rich, hands-on activities and intentional, unhurried days, children cultivate habits of attention, kindness, and curiosity. Our time together includes nature walks, engaging stories, music, movement, and creative play, caring for the heart, mind, and spirit of each child.

At Little Light Academy, our combined Kindergarten and 1st Grade class nurtures young learners through a blend of play-based discovery, gentle academics, and hands-on experiences. Children engage in storytelling, nature walks, music, games, and meaningful projects that build foundational skills in literacy, math, and emotional growth. The day flows with outdoor learning, circle time, creative arts, and character-building activities that instill wonder, confidence, and kindness.

Our Elementary program combines 2nd–3rd and 4th–5th grade learners into dynamic mixed-age classrooms that foster mentorship and collaboration.Students enjoy living books, nature journaling, copywork, artist and composer study, and project-based exploration. Middle schoolers at Little Light Academy dive into deeper learning with a focus on critical thinking, leadership, and applied skills. Students continue with a literature-rich curriculum and expand their learning through team projects, journaling, and meaningful discussion while allowing space to explore interests like entrepreneurship, business math, speech, current events, creative writing, and agroecology. With an emphasis on service, responsibility, and personal growth, our middle schoolers build both academic strength and strong character.

Our high school program is designed to cultivate capable, confident, and purpose-driven young adults. Students engage in a blend of self-directed learning, collaborative projects, and real-world application. They explore advanced literature, speech, business math, current events, and agroecology. Personal passions are nurtured through entrepreneurial ventures, workshops, and creative writing.

A strong emphasis is placed on building portfolios. Whether they’re launching a small business, designing a garden system, or researching a social cause, students are encouraged to take ownership of their education while preparing for future college, career, or life pathways.

Sports

Our P.E. and movement program rotates seasonally and includes a variety of engaging activities that promote physical health and teamwork. Students participate in sports, circuit training, fitness games, dance, and movement challenges. These activities are designed to develop coordination, strength, and confidence while encouraging fun and cooperative play.

Music & The Arts

We integrate music and arts into our weekly rhythm through dedicated classes and rotating creative workshops. Students explore rhythm, singing, and instrumental play, alongside visual arts like watercolor, clay, sculpture, and nature-inspired crafts. Each term features a focus on specific artists and composers to inspire creativity and deepen cultural appreciation.

Clubs & Activities

Afternoons come alive with project-based enrichment including Project Lab (architecture, woodshop, stitching, clay, and more), clubs, and special events. We also offer opportunities for student-led activities, service projects, and themed days that promote leadership, curiosity, and community spirit. Whether designing a business, engineering with Legos, or tending the garden, students are always learning by doing.

Faith

As a Christian school, we begin each day with gratitude and reflection, incorporating prayer, scripture, and character-building conversations into our daily rhythm. While we do not require a specific faith background, we guide students in practicing respect, kindness, and integrity, helping them connect learning with purpose and values that uplift both heart and mind.
